Clinic Day
This morning we set out to a poor village to distribute the food we bought yesterday. After handing out all the food we made our way to the free clinic Evelyn and Jose run. I worked in the pharmacy while Karl worked on the equipment.
Food for the POOR
Today we went into the town of Jutiapia with our neighbors to buy food to hand out to the poor. We dropped our car off at the mechanic on the way as the brakes still weren’t right. After buying the food, we picked our car up. The brakes are better but still not as good as they should be. Later today our neighbors will come over and we will bag up to the food and get it ready to hand out.
Because it was raining so hard, the scheduled power shut off did not happen. It will happen I am told whenever the first weather permitting day occurs.
Sharing God’s gifts
We asked Lisa if she would go with us to see a family several of us support.Today she called and said it would a good day to come out. She lives about an hour away, down the dirt road. When we arrived at Lisa’s the girls were so excited to see us. We had hugs before we could even get out of the car! After lunch, we went to see this family. We found out the dad’s name is Carlos when we got there. We had stopped on the way to Lisa’s house get some food to bring to them. 25 lbs of rice, 10 lbs of beans, 5 lbs, flour,5 lbs sugar,3 boxes of powdered milk, crisco, coffee, salt, and for a treat lollipops and cookies. We also brought along some stuffed animals. They were so grateful. We prayed with them. We found out one of the boys was sick. On the way back to Lisa’s, we stopped to see Jose’s grave. It was so sad for me as I had known him for a long time. We went back to Lisa’s she gave me some Tylenol and vitamin C to bring to the sick boy on our way home. We got home around 5:00. It was a full and rewarding day.
Thankful
Since we didn’t have a car we took advantage of our neighbors invite to go to town to get a few groceries and things. We stopped to eat at KFC for lunch. I began to eat but wasn’t too hungry so had over half my meal left. A young boy knocked on the window by where we sitting. He indicated he was hungry. He was a street kid. I got up and brought the remainder of my meal out to him. He sat on the curb and ate it. I was thinking I should buy him a meal when we were ready to leave but he had already left. It made me think of Jose that was shot not that long ago in that area. It is sad to see kids hungry and on the streets. All too common sight here.
A Little set back
After we got the car back that seemed to be running like a top..except for no air conditioning which we can live without if we need to this time of year, we had a little set back. When driving we heard a scraping sound when we put on the brakes. It was not there for the first 5 days we drove the car. So…back to the shop the car went today. Found out it needed brakes and routers. We are hoping it will be ready tomorrow…. But…this is Honduras.
Opening some of the 100 plus boxes to take the bags out and organize them for giving away.
